Michael Gravely is an award winning designer well known for his attention to detail and warm personality. His gardens are known for their bold lines blurred by soft plantings paired with the use of native stone to create a natural relaxing space. His interiors are modern, yet warm and intimate. His use of wood, stone and fibers paired with unique and eclectic furnishings create a calm serene respite from the outside world. In each case, they reflect the client through a unique space that is equally functional and beautiful.
My Story
Growing up with a father that was a forester, I couldn't help but be a lover of nature. Hiking through the lush mountains full of creeks, boulders and waterfalls or across the scrubby landscape of Florida with its pines, palmettos and grasses all grounded me in the natural world. The textures and colors of nature inform everything I do. This morning, I picked up a squirrel eaten acorn and it's sitting on my desk. I keep asking myself how can I get the texture from the cap into a space and how can I get that pattern in the center of the acorn onto something. Nature is the ultimate muse with never ending inspiration.
Each ecosystem has its own purpose and own special smell, feel and look - much
like our homes and gardens. Each space has a purpose, defining that purpose
and creating that special feel is the key to every great space.

In the beginning, I only designed gardens, Over time, more and more clients began
asking about their interior spaces. They wanted the same feeling whether they
were stepping in or out of their front door. So, I began working on interiors as well until it is now a solid part of what I do. Studio|M is the reflection of this direction. After 9/11, I pursued other avenues for several years, but I am returning to my passion with this company.
